Why do some people continue to doubt that measles kills people?
The usual suspects…
Let’s Take a Look at Measles Deaths in Europe
In this case, they are simply lying with statistics.
How?
Well, it is true that there were no measles deaths between July 2025 and June 2026, BUT they are leaving out all of the deaths that occurred just before July 2025.
Tricky, tricky!
Why?
Well, if you look a little further, you will find:
23 measles deaths in 2024 among 35,212 cases
8 measles deaths in 2025 among 7,655 cases
And you find a classic case fatality rate of 0.1%!
That’s about one death per 1,000 cases of measles.
Or about one death for every 1,000 reported cases.
But then why weren’t there any deaths among the 2,472 cases from July 2025 to June 2026?
That’s easy to explain!
They got lucky.
After all, it’s not one death for each and every 1,000 measles cases or 1 death after 1,000 measles cases.
It’s more like - if you have 1,000 measles cases, then you can expect that someone will die.
When?
Maybe after the first case or after a few thousand cases…
You don’t know, except that the probability increases the longer you go without a death.
Measles Outbreaks Per Capita
What else?

Despite what Secretary RFK, Jr continues to say, many most countries in Europe are doing much better at handling measles than he is, including (yes, on a per capita basis):
Finland
Greece
Liechtenstein
Malta
Slovenia
Norway
Sweden
Portugal
Denmark
Czechia
Germany
Austria
Ireland
Iceland
Poland
Netherlands
France
Luxemborg
Lithuania
Spain
Belgium
Estonia
Cyrprus
Italy
On the other hand, he does have a lower measles notification rate per million people than Romania, Latvia, and Bulgaria!
