He even told me it would be better if we went back to “natural measles.”

Wait, where else have we heard this?
Well, we had Kirk Milhoan proposing using the measles outbreaks as some kind of natural experiment to see what happens to folks who are unvaccinated…
And he isn’t the only one?
MAHA influencers would be very happy for their family members to have a chance to get measles!
They would be very happy for measles to return, even though that would mean that:
millions of children would get sick each year
hundreds of thousands of children would be hospitalized each year
thousands of children would develop pneumonia and/or encephalitis and die each year
thousands of children would later develop SSPE and die each year
What else?
We would end up spending tens of billions of dollars taking care of all of these people sick with measles.
Lastly, it wouldn’t just be children who would be affected.
Anyone with a weakened immune system would be at risk to get a serious case of measles and could die. That would include children and adults being treated for cancer, anyone with an immune system problem, and those being treated with drugs that affect their immune system, etc.
That’s natural measles and why we worked so hard to get measles under control!
