As we hit yet another record year of measles outbreaks, you know that you should mostly ignore it!
An executive order that is rooted in anti-vaccine misinformation and propaganda.
An executive order that is neither based on common sense nor scientific research.
“Pursuant to the Presidential Memorandum of December 5, 2025 (Aligning United States Core Childhood Vaccine Recommendations with Best Practices from Peer, Developed Countries), the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) completed a scientific assessment, which identified a set of consensus vaccines that are consistently recommended in all peer countries and found that the United States currently recommends more childhood vaccines than any peer nation, including more than twice as many vaccine doses as some European nations (scientific assessment).”

An executive order that:
is based on a flawed scientific assessment by Tracy Beth Høeg and RFK, Jr’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in which undercounted the vaccine dose counts for other countries, all the while inflating the vaccine dose counts for the United States. Why? To make it seem like our kids get too many vaccines!
claims that ‘Decades ago, children received only a small fraction of the vaccines required today. In those times, people were much healthier.’ - False - with fewer vaccines, we just had many more kids getting sick and dying with hepatitis A, hepatitis B, chickenpox, Hib meningitis, epiglotitis, pneumococcal disease, rotavirus, and meningococcal infections
tries to link an increase in vaccines to more kids getting diagnosed with autism, ignoring the fact that there are better reasons that explain this increase.
claims that there are no adults with autism and that “something happened in the in the mid 90s that changed our children” - False - it well known that there are many older adults with autism, including that they are a lost generation that would have even higher rates of autism if the diagnostic criteria had been the same when they were kids.
calls for children to get fewer vaccines, losing protection against many life-threatening, vaccine-preventable diseases for no good reason
calls for separating the MMR vaccine into three separate, single-disease shots, something that is only done in two countries - Japan and China. And even then, know that Japan is moving away from using separate vaccines and is now using the combination MMR vaccine! Oh, and after they stopped using the combined MMR vaccine, Japan ended up with a lot of mumps encephalitis, but no decrease in autism. Mostly know that this is not something we have in the United States.
calls for children to get all vaccines during separate medical visits - to the maximum extent feasible. - the Jay Gordon immunization schedule!
states that the United States currently recommends more childhood vaccines than any peer nation - False - Some peer nations give more vaccines and many give about the same number of vaccines, without much difference in rates of autism or SIDS, etc.
inflates the vaccine count to 84 vaccine doses in at least 57 shots for 17 diseases
doesn’t mention that most of our peer nations actually use combination vaccines, nor that combination vaccines have less aluminum than single shots, the adjuvant that he wants out of vaccines
And worst of all, it creates many new problems without actually fixing any of the problems we have now!
What new problems?
Well, for one thing, it calls for children to get fewer vaccines, leaving them at risk to get rotavirus, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, RSV, meningococcal disease, influenza, and COVID-19. Sure, it hides this recommendation behind the idea of individual clinical decision-making, but it makes it nearly impossible for parents to make an informed decision, as they are being bombarded with misinformation and propaganda and scared into skipping or delaying vaccines.
Also by calling for kids to get vaccines at separate visits, it delays when they will be fully vaccinated, increasing the risk that they might get sick, without adding any benefit. After all, vaccines are safe, with few serious side effects. And the only reason these folks think vaccine injuries are so common is simply because they believe that anything and everything that happens after you get a vaccine, even if it is weeks, months, or years later, must have been caused by a vaccine!

So what does this all mean?
“Each executive department and agency shall review the Gold Standard Childhood Vaccine Recommendations and take any appropriate steps to advance them, to the fullest extent allowable by law.”

Fortunately, right now, it doesn’t mean much of anything, beyond the fact that it is likely scaring some parents.
Remember, new vaccine policy has to go through the ACIP committee, and RFK, Jr’s antics have ensured that we don’t actually have one of those.
And thanks to the AAP, the current immunization schedule is the same as it was before RFK, Jr and Donald Trump tried to mess with it.
“A president cannot dissolve a federal court injunction by signing a different document. Judge Murphy’s March 16 preliminary injunction runs against Secretary Kennedy, HHS and CDC. Those are the parties. The President is not one of them, and he cannot direct his subordinates to do what a court has forbidden them to do.
The order acknowledges this in its own preamble, which states that implementation of the prior directives “has been delayed due to litigation over the composition of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and separate updates to the Federal vaccine schedule.” The White House drafted around the injunction rather than through it.”

Donald Trump signed this executive order in the setting of record-breaking outbreaks of measles that are getting worse…
“Today's executive order will do nothing to support families of children with autism or advance understanding of the condition. The only purpose of this announcement is to sow confusion so that more people doubt the importance of vaccines. Delaying or skipping shots is risky, especially as measles continues to spread and children go back to school.”

And when asked, Donald Trump even admitted that he misspoke when he said that the MMR vaccine was lethal!
“Mr. President I think I heard you say that the MMR vaccine is quite lethal. Is there any evidence of of that?
President Trump: No. I what I’ve heard is that there are there are some people that say it is that way and I say well let’s say there’s a 5% chance of it. Let’s split it up. Let’s split it up because they do say that given individual MMR that given individual there is no impact. In fact, they’ve said how safe it seems to be, but I’ve heard when you put them together, they can’t be explosive. ”
So basically his EO is based on something he heard from someone who might think something that is the opposite of every vaccine expert in the universe…
We can only hope that parents have learned to ignore him (after all, have you ever seen a child get a shot the size of a bottle of soda???) and are getting their kids vaccinated and protected.
