Zenodo Has an Anti-Vaccine Problem
Have you heard of Zenodo?
It is a website that has become the go-to spot for anti-vaccine influencers to park their misinformation and propaganda that is posing as real research.
Zenodo Has an Anti-Vaccine Problem
So now they don’t even have to go through the motions of posting a pre-print in a pay to publish journal that would take their papers.

Anti-vaccine influencers sure have been lately.

This way they don’t have to risk their papers getting retracted!

Although that still doesn’t always work out for them…
While still on Zenodo, the above “study” was retracted when they eventually tried to publish it.
Why was it retracted?
Inappropriate citation of references.
Inappropriate design of methodology.
Errors, misrepresentation, and lack of factual support for the conclusions.
Failure to recognize and cite disconfirming evidence.
Surprisingly, even with all of those problems, the journal did give Nicolas Hulscher a chance to try to fix his paper…
“The concerns were shared with the authors, who prepared a response and submitted a revised manuscript for consideration by the journal. In consideration of the extent of the concerns raised and the responses from the authors, the journal sent the revised manuscript to two independent peer-reviewers. The peer-reviewers concluded that the revised manuscript did not sufficiently address the concerns raised by the community and that it was not suitable for publication in the journal.”
Withdrawn: A systematic review of autopsy findings in deaths after COVID-19 vaccination
He couldn’t…
He simply found somewhere else to get it published.
And it’s still on Zenodo…
Why is that important?
Well, for one thing, when people see links to these reports on Zenodo from anti-vaccine influencers, many think that they are legitimately published research articles.
They likely don’t realize that they aren’t peer-reviewed and likely couldn’t pass peer review or get published in a real journal.
That’s also bad news for real researchers who post their research on Zenodo. Many of us are going to start suspecting that your stuff is on par with these other anti-vaccine influencers…
