The Real Truth About Vaccines

Why do some people believe that they are more likely to die from a vaccine than from the disease for which it protects them?

Among 813 measles cases in the past 10 years in Texas, two unvaccinated children died in 2025. And the last measles vaccine death in Texas? There have been no VAERS reports of measles vaccine deaths in the past ten years, despite the fact that over 6.6 million doses of MMR vaccines have been given to Texas children! Now ask Paul Thomas and Suzanne Humphries again which is safer?

Of course, the only way for that to be true would be if EVERYONE WAS VACCINATED and protected and there was no one left to get sick and die from the disease!

That way, even extremely rare, one in a million type reactions that MIGHT lead to a real vaccine death would indeed become more likely than disease deaths.

But that’s not how real life works, is it?

For a realistic risk assessment, you would want to compare disease deaths in the pre-vaccine era, to include your risk of getting sick and dying with the disease.

Diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, measles, pneumococcal disease, meningococcal disease, and Hib were all big killers in the pre-vaccine era, even after deaths had decreased earlier in the century because of improvements in sanitation and hygiene.

And you would compare those deaths to verified vaccine deaths, not just reports in VAERS…

Using data from the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, understanding that fewer than half of filed claims are compensated and the date range for number of doses distributed is half that for filed death claims, this is still just 0.4 deaths per million doses of a measles containing vaccine given!

Much less than 1 in a million doses given, which makes it hard to know if they are even caused by the vaccine or are coincidental.

“Millions of vaccinations are given to children and adults in the United States each year. Serious adverse reactions are rare. However, because of the high volume of use, coincidental adverse events including deaths, that are temporally associated with vaccination, do occur. When death occurs shortly following vaccination, loved ones and others might naturally question whether it was related to vaccination. A large body of evidence supports the safety of vaccines, and multiple studies and scientific reviews have found no association between vaccination and deaths except in rare cases.”

But what about the idea that improved nutrition, sanitation, hygiene, and medical care will save you if you get a vaccine preventable disease?

Peter McCullough is wrong about the Amish and Mennonites. Many vaccinate. Tragically, it is often after there is an outbreak in their community and kids have died.

Know that many more people died (there were 123 deaths) during the measles outbreaks of the early 1990s, when we had good nutrition, sanitation, hygiene, and medical care, than there have been claims of measles vaccine deaths in the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program in the past 38 years!

Know that vaccine-preventable diseases are still life-threatening, even with the best medical care in the 21st century.

Also remember that the risk of death isn’t the only thing to be concerned about if you are unvaccinated. Many people survive having a vaccine preventable disease with serious complications, including deafness, intellectual disabilities, and seizures, etc.

And know that it is risky to skip or delay getting vaccinated, especially as more people are listening to anti-vaccine influencers, and it gets harder to hide in the herd, free-riding on the protection of those who choose to get vaccinated.
