Would it surprise you to learn that Joseph Fraiman, an emergency room doctor, didn’t let his children get vitamin K when they were born?
It probably shouldn’t…
Why Did Joseph Fraiman Opt Out of Giving Vitamin K to His Own Children When They Were Born?
After all, anti-vaccine folks are often against vitamin K, even though it isn’t a vaccine.
So who is Joseph Fraiman?
He is an emergency medicine physician in Louisiana, who:
appeared at a panel of contrarian experts held by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to push the idea that COVID vaccines were too risky
has repeatedly called for mRNA vaccines to be withdrawn from the market
was a co-author of a poorly designed reanalysis of COVID vaccine clinical trial data with Peter Doshi about “Serious adverse events of special interest following mRNA COVID-19 vaccination in randomized trials in adults”
was considered for RFK, Jr’s new ACIP committee but apparently withdrew or was dropped from consideration before he could be appointed
So he is not just an emergency room physician who understands how to look at the risks and benefits of a procedure…
He is an emergency room physician who overstates the risks of the COVID vaccines and minimizes the risks of a natural COVID infection.
And he has done the same with vitamin K.
What else?
That makes him just another anti-vaccine influencer trying to scare you away from doing what is right for your family.
Don’t let him!
He’s just one emergency room physician that Maryanne Demasi found who opted out of a vitamin K shot for his kids.
“It is the responsibility of healthcare providers to properly inform patients and their families of the importance of vitamin K prophylaxis at or before the time of delivery.”
A Case of Vitamin K Deficiency Bleeding in a Newborn: Catastrophic Yet Preventable
I bet that the great majority of the other 55,000 active emergency room physicians in the United States chose to make sure their kids got a vitamin K shot to decrease their risk of developing vitamin K deficiency bleeding.
In fact, many are working hard to push back and educate parents about the “rampant misinformation” that is putting newborn infants at risk for life-threatening bleeds from vitamin K deficiency bleeding (VKDB).

Cranks say: "Opt out of Vitamin K, doctors are doing so, and those that don't must be pharma shills"
