What Happened to the Celebrity Vaccine Advocates?
They are everywhere! Unfortunately, most aren't as loud as the minority of anti-vaccine celebrities that are still out there...
Unsurprisingly, it still isn’t hard to find anti-vaccine celebrities…

They are just as vocal as ever, although I often have to use the term ‘celebrity’ very loosely with most of them.

Yes, I’m talking about Rob Schneider…
What Happened to the Celebrity Vaccine Advocates?
More importantly though, we have typically had even more celebrity vaccine advocates to counter the misinformation from the anti-vaccine types!

For every Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carey, for example, we have Ewan McGregor, Salma Hayek, Kristen Bell, Olivia Wilde, Jennifer Aniston, Amy Schumer, and Lenny Kravitz advocating to get kids vaccinated and protected.

They have Cindy Crawford, Kristin Cavallari, and Russell Brand, but we have Jennifer Garner, Amanda Peet, David Beckham, Keri Russell, Julie Bowen, Serena Williams, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Mariah Carey, and Stephen Colbert.
They have Lisa Bonet, Alicia Silverstone, and Joe Rogan, but we have Tori Spelling, Olivia Rodrigo, Tyler Perry, Jessica Lange, Angelique Kidjo, Amy Ryan, Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, Kristi Yamaguchi, Marc Anthony, Mia Farrow, and Jon Stewart.
Unfortunately, they have Robert De Niro…
They can have Adam Carolla, Jenna Jameson, Billy Corgan, Charlie Sheen, and Bill Maher…
We also have Jimmy Kimmel, Denise Richards, Sid the Science Kid, John Oliver, Christy Turlington Burns, Dolly Parton, Ziggy Marley, Gal Gadot, Julie Bowen, Millie Bobby Brown, Bono, Willie Nelson, Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Liam Neeson, and Hugh Jackman.
And?
Well, know that although you mostly hear about a few very vocal celebrities who wouldn’t get a COVID shot during the pandemic, know that most celebrities were very happy to be vaccinated.
Also, we have the amazing Morgan Fairchild!

And John Cena!

But with rates of vaccine preventable diseases rising and more and more parents listening to the bad advice of anti-vaccine influencers, it would be nice if more folks out there would be a little more vocal and use their celebrity status to help parents make a good decision and get their kids vaccinated and protected.
"Every nudnik celebrity — recently, Jessica Biel — who announces they don't like vaccines gets massive coverage," Caplan said. "In general, the best tool the anti-vaxxers have is to pull the celebrity card, and that really pulls attention."

After all, if celebrities can scare parents away from vaccinating their kids, even as we are seeing more outbreaks of measles, then better celebrities can help pull them back to the reality that vaccines are safe, with few risks, and are very necessary.

Be like The King. C’mon Everybody - get vaccinated and protected.
Not a Robmeister… making measles…
Oh, and if you are a journalist and really feel the need to report about what the latest anti-vaccine celebrity has to say about vaccines or autism, be sure to include some info about what all of these other celebrity vaccine advocates are saying too!
