And even though the idea of a redacted myocarditis study was disproved more than two years ago, it is once again being recycled and laundered by anti-vaccine influencers across all of their social media accounts and websites.
So what did happen?
An anti-vaccine ‘news’ organization sent a FOIA request to the CDC concerning the Myocarditis Outcomes after mRNA COVID-19 Vaccination Investigation.
The CDC responded with a FOIA release that included a number of pages that were completely redacted.
Why redacted?
They contained internal CDC communications and other things that are exempt from FOIA requests (exemptions 5 and 6) and can be redacted. Most importantly, know that the document was not a study on myocarditis.
The idea of a redacted study took off after Zachary Stieber posted the redacted documents in 2024 and a few weeks later by Arizona State Senator Janae Shamp.
Arizona State Senator Janae Shamp held up blank pieces of paper and said: “The CDC redacts every single word of a 148-page study into myocarditis after COVID vaccination. ... What good does a study do if there’s nothing there?”

Interestingly, Janae Shamp also complained about blank inserts for the COVID vaccines.
Wait, why were the COVID vaccine inserts blank?
“The paper insert states that it was intentionally left blank and that FDA-authorized fact sheets are available electronically, according to a J&J representative. This is intended to ensure vaccinators and consumers refer to the most up-to-date information about the vaccine during the FDA’s emergency use authorization, the representative said.”

The blank COVID vaccine inserts myth was debunked way back in 2021!
The inserts included a QR code, so people could get the most up-to-date information about the vaccines.
Lastly, although myocarditis has been associated with COVID vaccines, remember that the risk of myocarditis after a natural COVID infection is much higher than your risk from a COVID vaccine.
“The overall risk of myocarditis – inflammation of the heart muscle – is substantially higher immediately after being infected with COVID-19 than it is in the weeks following vaccination for the coronavirus, a large new study in England shows.”

We know of the antivaccine lies about the “blank insert”.
But isn’t this something different? …a “148 page study” that has been redacted??
…Yes and no. There was an FOIA request from antivaxers about myocarditis, and the response was heavily redacted because it covered mainly internal emails and documents. People like Steve Kirsch labelled this as a scientific study, which it was not.
There is plenty of information on myocarditis studies released by the CDC, none of which is redacted.
