As is often the case, there is a big problem with RFK, Jr’s flu shot injury story.
Wait, what flu shot injury story?
Basically, RFK, Jr is blaming a flu shot reaction as the cause for his voice problems.
Why?
He says that he noticed spasmodic dysphonia listed on a insert for a flu vaccine.
So what’s the problem with his story?
While he does have spasmodic dysphonia, a form of spasmodic dystonia, neither have ever been listed as an adverse event on a flu vaccine insert!

And while dysphonia is listed, it’s in the section on the postmarketing experience area of the adverse events section, where you can’t “establish a causal relationship to the vaccine.”
What else?
Dysphonia is not spasmodic dysphonia.
Dysphonia is just a symptom.
Spasmodic dysphonia is a specific neurological disorder.
And again, spasmodic dysphonia is not in any flu vaccine insert.
It’s like comparing a tremor to Parkinson’s disease.
And saying that because drinking too much caffeine can cause a tremor, then it must also cause Parkinson’s disease.
But of course it doesn’t.
Just like a flu shot didn’t cause RFK, Jr to have spasmodic dysphonia.
