Are your kids getting exposed to measles at school?
It wasn’t too long ago that we didn’t have to worry about measles when sending our kids off to school.
And now?
You can add it to the list of things to be concerned about as vaccination rates have dropped and there are more and more measles outbreaks all over the country…
Getting Exposed to Measles at School
So why are so many kids getting exposed to measles at school?
“That’s correct. That in some schools there are um the the number of children who have met the school entry requirements is as low as 20%.”

Vaccination rates have dropped to extremely low levels in some schools and communities, allowing outbreaks to quickly grow out of control, as we are seeing in Spartanburg County, South Carolina.
But it is not just a problem in South Carolina.

Why are these folks getting quarantined?
Usually, students and staff who are unvaccinated and exposed to measles get quarantined.
How long does their quarantine last?
Typically, at least 21 days from their last exposure to someone with measles.

That’s a lot of school days these kids are missing!
How can you help your kids avoid getting caught up in these outbreaks?
As long as they don’t have a true contraindication, get them one or more age appropriate doses of the MMR vaccine.
