How to Misuse a Study and Turn It Into Anti-Vax Propaganda
The South Korea Study on long-term risk of autoimmune diseases after COVID vaccination
One well known way that anti-vaccine influencers push misinformation about vaccines is that they misuse real studies and turn them into anti-vax propaganda.
Why?
They are counting on the fact that most people won’t actually take the time to read the study!
How to Misuse a Study and Turn It Into Anti-Vax Propaganda
Consider all of the anti-vax hype of a South Korean study right now.
The study, Long-term risk of autoimmune diseases after mRNA-based SARS-CoV2 vaccination in a Korean, nationwide, population-based cohort study, concluded that “mRNA-based vaccinations are not associated with an increased risk of most AI-CTDs,” with AI-CTDs being autoimmune connective tissue diseases.

A conclusion that the anti-vax community somehow twisted into some kind of stunning news that COVID vaccines are causing all kinds of vaccine injuries!
Don’t believe them.
At least you should read the complete studies for yourself and come to your own conclusions.
And don’t cherry pick studies!
For example, I bet that none of those anti-vaccine influencers will ever post about this other South Korean study.
The study, Short- and long-term neuropsychiatric outcomes in long COVID in South Korea and Japan, found that getting vaccinated against COVID reduced your risk of long-term risk of adverse neuropsychiatric outcomes after a COVID infection!
Other studies have found COVID vaccines to be safe if you already have a connective tissue disease.
And while COVID vaccines do not seem to be associated with developing auto-immune diseases, do you know what is?
“Two studies that use large cohorts now highlight that SARS-CoV-2 infection is linked to a substantially increased risk of developing a diverse spectrum of new-onset autoimmune diseases.”
