Graphs That Show Vaccines Work - International Edition
Graphs from Sweden show that measles vaccines work!
Have you seen those mortality graphs (death rates) that anti-vaccine influencers try to use because they think they somehow show that vaccines don’t work?

Hopefully you have learned to ignore them, because they are pure propaganda.
Unbelievably, this kind of propaganda is even coming from Robert F. Kennedy, Jr and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr’s new ACIP Chair, Kirk Milhoan!

That’s right, even Secretary Kennedy has been posting this kind of propaganda about vaccines, pushing the idea that vaccines aren’t necessary during the largest measles outbreaks in over thirty years!
Graphs That Show Vaccines Work - International Edition
Of course, it is not true that the incidence of disease often goes down even before a vaccine had been started.
Instead, sometimes what we do see is that as compared to early 20th Century, the number of people dying of these diseases had indeed gone down by the time a vaccine has been introduced. And for that, we can thank improvements in nutrition, hygiene, sanitation, and medical advances, etc.
But the actual incidence of disease, the number of people getting sick, that typically didn’t change as much. And people did still die of these diseases - anti-vaccine influencers just hide the number of deaths in their graphs because the scales have changed.
For example, let’s take a look at that graph of measles deaths in Sweden from 1911 to 2013 that I posted above, but let’s zoom in a bit…
Now you can see that people were still dying with measles just before the measles vaccines were introduced, something that was hidden on the other graph!
And if you look at the actual incidence of measles?

You can easily see that 20,000 to 30,000 people in Sweden were still getting sick with measles just before the measles vaccine was introduced.
An incidence that dropped dramatically after the measles vaccine was introduced, along with an even further drop in measles deaths.
If you are not impressed with that, consider that worldwide, measles cases have dropped from over 4 million laboratory-confirmed cases in 1980 to just over 200,000 cases in recent years. And measles deaths have dropped from 2 million each year to about 100,000.
That’s a lot of lives that have been saved because of vaccines.
What else can you see?
Hopefully, you have learned to see through one of the tricks anti-vaccine influencers use to scare people away from vaccinating and protecting their families!

You would think Milhoan would at least give a damn about congenital rubella syndrome because of all the heart defects it causes, but apparently he doesn't even care about that as a pediatric cardiologist. Maybe he wants more business and this is a way for him to get it. I wouldn't put anything past these MAHA grifters and science deniers.
I’m really sick and tired of cardiologists pretending to know enough about vaccine science to make policy decisions for the rest of us.
