A Baby With Congenital Measles Has Died in Canada
In the measles outbreak in Ontario, Canada, among about 2,000 cases, just over 100 children have been hospitalized and there have been six cases of congenital measles.
“There was one death that occurred in a congenital case of measles who was born pre-term and had other underlying medical conditions.”
Measles in Ontario Updated: June 5, 2025
An infant born to a mother who was not vaccinated and in whom “measles may have been a contributing factor in both the premature birth and death.”
As with the two deaths in Texas of unvaccinated children and four deaths in Mexico of unvaccinated children, this death serves as a reminder that measles can be deadly.
Not to mention the unvaccinated adults who have died in New Mexico and Mexico this year.
A reminder that folks need to get vaccinated and protected if we will have any hope of stopping these outbreaks.
A reminder that there will continue to be more deaths if we don’t.
